SWIM TEAM NEWS

The dates and venues for the 2008 season will be available here via the Teamopolis Calendar once they have been assigned.

Ready or not, it's swim team season again. The first practices will be on Tuesday, May 27. 8 and unders will be from 5:30 to 6:00; 9-10s will be from 6:00 to 6:30; everyone else will be from 6:30 to 7:30. Linked is a registration form for this year that you can bring to practice or mail to the swim team post office box. Practices will be Tues - Fri. the first week. Normally, practices are not held on Fridays after the first week unless the coach requests it. We are welcoming back Coach Mike Rodgers for a second year.

We are in Division F.
Our swim meets will be:
June 14 - Time Trials
June 21 - Home Meet vs. Severn Crossing
June 28 - at Kingfish Swim Club (Mitchelville, MD)
July 5 - at Brandywine (Brandywine, MD)
July 12 - at Russet (Laurel)
July 19 - Home Meet vs. Oxon Hill

Parents will have an officials clinic on June 7 at the University of MD.

About the PG Pool Swim Team

Any child up to age 18 (or 19 depending on the birthday) able to swim 25 meters can be on the swim team, and we would love to have your child join us. What you most often hear from swim team members is how much fun they have. Our swim team is low-key, with the emphasis on teamwork, good sportsmanship, improved swimming, and fun. We are renowned for the quality of our Friday night potlucks.

Meets take place on Saturday mornings, start time 8:30 am and end time around noon. Every team member who wants to swim in a meet has a chance to do so, and while we encourage swimmers to be in the meets, they don’t have to do so to be on the team.

Swim team fees are $60 for one child, $100 for two children in the same family, and $120 for 3 or more children in the same family. These fees cover our league membership, insurance, trophies and awards for the end of the season banquet, and the coach’s salary. In addition, the team swimsuit costs about $50 for girls and $25 for boys. We will discuss new suit designs at the June 4 meeting. If your child is uncertain whether to join the team, he or she is welcome to come to a practice and try us out before committing.
