MEMBERS:

If you found yourself imagining a transformed pool environment, then become an agent of change this Spring!

Any metamorphosis of our summer retreat depends on individual members-like you-stepping forward to take primary responsibility for organizing a project. Board members can help you recruit volunteers and obtain tools and materials. Projects that need to be done this year include: refinishing the surface of the baby pool, lawn renovation, finishing up work on our new kitchen, cleaning and painting building walls, making some new picnic tables, organizing the office, patching and smoothing deck surfaces, landscaping, trimming and planting trees, cleaning up the alley, and whatever project you have long dreamed of accomplishing. Please contact Board member Gary Roush (301-927- 3405), gwroush@yahoo.com to volunteer to lead a particular project.

We also need volunteers who are willing to dedicate effort to a specific project, but don't have the time or skills required to actually lead a project. David McCandlish plans to lead the repair and patching of the deck, so please contact him if you are willing to "chip in." Gary Roush will be organizing further renovation of our new kitchen space and will also lead a picnic-table workshop, so please contact him to volunteer both skilled and unskilled labor for those projects.

Finally, the lifeblood that sustains our pool flows from the sweat equity of worker-bee members who attend scheduled workdays in fulfillment of their co-op hour requirement. Workdays are also a great opportunity to meet new friends, renew old acquaintances and perhaps learn a new skill. Regardless of your level of physical skills, there will be a job with your name on it. Please note: members aren't penalized for working extra hours over and above their co-op requirement.

The 2004 main pool rehabilitation project has now been completed. The main pool is looking better than ever and we can now start looking forward and planning other projects. For pics and a textual description of the 2004 project please navigate to this older physical plant page concerning the rehab. With that project finally behind us we can now start looking forward to other pressing needs. More specificly we need to resurface the wading pool, add some more lighting around the grounds, and begin looking at the kitchen and dressing room areas.

Prince George's Community Pool is a private pool cooperatively-owned and run by its members.
