Co-op Job Descriptions

JOB DESCRIPTIONS AND SEASONAL CO-OP JOBS

Co-op hours can be completed by board-approved work that maintains or improves the pool's grounds, facilities and equipment, assists with the operations of the pool, or is necessary for events that raise money for the pool. Two co-op hours are also earned for direct recruitment of new members.

In order to keep things at the PG Pool running smoothly, every membership of two adults is required to either pay a co-op fee or to fulfill five (5) co-op hours. There is a further co-op fee of $100 or five (5) hours work required for every adult thereafter. To fulfill the co-op hour obligation members may choose to commit to a seasonal job (listed below); work a few hours at a time at any number of scheduled workdays or scheduled events; or recruit new memberships.

For documenting your co-op hours and obtaining a refund, please read this. A refund will not be made without a request in writing.

Choosing to work a Seasonal Co-op Job requires ongoing attention to a specific task over the entire pool season. It is a job that is based on the task rather than number of hours. Each and every one of the jobs is essential to the smooth operation of the pool, so we ask that you strongly consider signing up for one the following. We also ask that any family committing to a Seasonal Co-op Job please be sure to see the job through to the end of the pool season. Should the board discover that the duty is not being fulfilled appropriately, co-op hours may not be granted.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

The number in parentheses indicates the number of volunteers needed. You must commit to doing the job over the entire pool season. Email pgpoolcoopjobs(at)gmail.com to sign up for a job.

Adopt a Grill (7): The grills are a fundamental part of most families’ summer at the pool. With so many families using the grills on a regular basis, many of you will be willing to commit to keeping them reasonably clean and free from the grease that can create a fire hazard.

Mowers/Grounds-keeping (4): Another extremely important task that needs commitment from start to finish. If four families claimed this for the summer, they could coordinate and keep the grass at manageable length.

Recycling: Pool member Jim Groves oversees the recycling program. He will recruit members to assist as required at the beginning of the season. He can be reached at: jgroves4ward2(at)gmail.com

Lost and Found Coordinator (2): Two families can coordinate sorting out lost and found items frequently and hanging wet towels to dry. We tend to discard of the items twice (mid-season and post Labor Day) by either having a sale at the pool or donating everything. You may make announcements at the pool to remind members to check the lost and found and give listserv warnings before you get rid of everything.

Fridge and Microwaves (3): A couple of families can share the weekly job of completely cleaning out the fridge. Wiping down the microwaves should be done once or twice a week.

Kitchen (2): Requires cleaning and organizing the kitchen once a week. Making sure the floor is swept and the sink area does not get cluttered.

Supplies shopper (4): Several families can coordinate to check the stock of general supplies at the pool and make trips to the store to purchase supplies needed. The guards and/or a board member will alert you if anything is running low. (Costs are reimbursed by the pool.)

Team Food and Beverage (12): Work with the Events Committee to plan and execute Saturday night food sales when entertainment is planned.

Sandbox Maintainer (1): A great job for a family who spends a lot of time supervising sandbox activities anyway. This job involves removing inappropriate items from the sandbox and generally keeping it a nice, safe place for children to play.

Web site (3): Weekly updates to www.pgpool.org.

Flower Bed and Garden Coordinator (3): This job entails organizing the various garden sites and overseeing the flowerbeds as well as watering the grass and flowers on a regular basis.

Fourth of July Festivities Coordinator (2): The Fourth is a big event at PG Pool. This job involves coordinating activities and getting volunteers to pitch in.

Bulletin Board Maintainer (1): Updating and maintaining our three bulletin boards.

Maintenance: Anyone with plumbing, carpentry, electrical or other specialized skills, we need you.
